About Us

Our Club is open on Sunday from 2 pm until 4 pm and visitors are welcome.

Individuals and families of all ages can enjoy a canoeing experience at Newark Canoe Club.  We are not a racing club. Our purpose is to introduce you to the joy of canoeing by getting you on the water to have a go.  We offer all the necessary equipment including a range of kayaks, canoes and Stand Up Boards (SUP), all of the safety equipment and coaching. Beginners will be given the chance to advance their skills through the British Canoeing award systems ensuring you are safe to go out onto the water as part of a bigger group or as a family.  All this takes place at our Club facilities where we have a sheltered lake for you to start on.

Don’t want to do awards? No problem.  Just enjoy a paddle on the lake using our equipment.

The Club has a diverse membership from a variety of backgrounds, and a range of ability levels.  That means we have plenty to offer the novice canoeist and the experienced paddler, with organised events and trips on offer to a wide range of different types of water.  You can also try a range of boats and equipment so that you do not need to buy kit until you are ready to do so.

Coaching and awards offer a chance for personal development and take your skills up to the point where you can canoe safely on a range of water types and in different weathers as part of a larger group, led by a qualified river leader. Beginners Courses

We keep the price low to ensure that everyone can enjoy canoeing.  We are affiliated to British Canoeing and have been awarded Club Mark status. That means you can be confident our policies and operating practices meet the important Child Protection and Health & Safety standards required by our National Governing Body.  Club Members and visitors are insured under our British Canoeing policy when canoeing with us.

Our facilities include a dedicated Club House with changing facilities, toilets and a coffee bar.  We have storage for a variety of kayaks and canoes, paddles, buoyancy aids and safety helmets. Car parking is available and its free.

Canoeing is an amazing adventure for people of all ages and backgrounds, regardless of physical fitness. It offers you the chance to visit some of the most attractive water landscapes in the UK and maintain a healthy lifestyle. It all starts with a visit to Newark Canoe Club.
